Sudan: War in Sudan Spreads to Neighboring Countries - Tensions With Chad and Ethiopia

Sudan’s war is increasingly spilling across borders, according to the Fides News Agency report carried by AllAfrica, as the Sudan Armed Forces intensify efforts to disrupt Rapid Support Forces supply routes that they say run through neighboring countries. The SAF is led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, while the RSF is commanded by Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as Hemedti.

The report says the most serious recent incident happened on August 21, when Sudanese aircraft and drones pursued and bombed an RSF convoy after it crossed into Chadian territory near the border area shared by Sudan, Libya and Chad. Khartoum said the convoy had originated from camps in Libya and claimed the route was part of a wider logistics chain linked to the RSF. Chad responded by putting its forces on maximum alert and warning both sides not to widen the conflict, while also saying it would defend its territorial integrity.

The article also describes Sudanese accusations that weapons and supplies are moving through Chad and that Ethiopian territory may be being used in support of the RSF.
