What the report says

Fighting has intensified in Sudan’s Blue Nile state, where an RSF-aligned coalition known as the Tasees Alliance said on Saturday that it had taken control of areas in Roseires locality, northeast of Ed Damazin, after clashes that it says involved several villages and strategic points near the Ethiopian border and the Roseires Dam. The account came from Dabanga, which reported that the alliance claimed to have seized multiple areas and captured soldiers, while also saying it had taken combat vehicles and other military equipment.

The Sudanese Armed Forces gave a different account, saying its troops and allied units repelled the assault in what it described as a special operation. The army’s Fourth Infantry Division said it had dealt a strong blow to RSF and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement forces in the Menze and Basharkat areas in eastern Blue Nile.

Separately, the RSF carried out a drone strike on Ed Damazin, according to the report. Blue Nile governor Ahmed El Omda said the attack targeted his home and other civilian sites, and that air defenses intercepted the suicide drones. The incident underscores how the conflict has continued to spread into border areas and threaten civilian infrastructure in a state that has become strategically important because of its location near Ethiopia and the Roseires Dam.
