Sudan: Drone Strikes 'Kill 100+' in South Darfur Market As Sudan Power Stations Targeted

What the report says
A reported drone strike on Tangong Market in Nyala, South Darfur, killed more than 100 civilians on Tuesday, according to the Sudan Liberation Movement Transitional Council and accounts cited by Dabanga and carried by AllAfrica. The market attack, in the Dumaya neighborhood, also left many people injured. Some reports said members of the Rapid Support Forces were among the dead, and social media videos reportedly showed the market burning.
The same report said drone strikes also hit power infrastructure in other parts of Sudan, including the El Markhiyat electricity substation in Omdurman, near Khartoum, around 5 a.m. Eyewitnesses said explosions were followed by smoke and fire, and that electricity was disrupted across parts of Khartoum, Omdurman and El Gezira State. Several drinking water stations were also knocked out, according to the article, and the strike was attributed by reports to the RSF.
The attacks came amid a broader rise in drone strikes on civilian infrastructure and markets, with earlier strikes reportedly affecting power stations in El Faw, El Hawa, Sennar, White Nile and El Gezira states. A Sudanese political figure quoted in the report called for a humanitarian truce and ceasefire, while the UN Human Rights Office has said more than 306 people were killed in drone attacks in the first three weeks of October, underscoring the scale of the recent escalation.
