Sudan: 'Drone Strike On El Obeid Shelter Kills Boy, Wounds 12 Children'

What the report says
A drone strike in El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan in Sudan, reportedly hit a shelter for internally displaced people late Thursday, killing a boy and wounding 12 children, according to a Dabanga report distributed by AllAfrica. The article says the shelter was El Mina El Bari and that the injured children included five boys and seven girls. UNICEF condemned the attack and said children had been seeking safety there.
The same report says El Obeid was also struck that night at student housing connected to the University of Kordofan. The Sudanese Doctors Network said five civilians were killed and 47 others injured in that attack. The group stated that the strike hit university accommodation and described it as a serious breach of international humanitarian law.
The publication noted that reports attributed the university strike to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, but that the RSF had not commented and the attribution could not be independently verified by Radio Dabanga. UNICEF also said children in Sudan have faced heavy exposure to violence this year, and the article placed the El Obeid attacks in the wider context of repeated drone strikes on civilian sites in the city amid fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF across Kordofan since October 2025.
