Stromme Foundation Marks 50 Years in Uganda, Unveils New Brand Identity

What the report says
Stromme Foundation has marked 50 years of work in Uganda with the launch of a new brand identity and a renewed emphasis on fighting poverty through education, job creation and community partnerships, according to Nile Post. The anniversary event brought together government representatives, development partners, implementing organisations, beneficiaries and alumni, underscoring the Foundation’s long-running presence in the country.
Uganda Country Representative Dinah Morgan said the milestone was a chance to reflect on the organisation’s history and the people whose lives have been affected by its programmes. She said Stromme was founded on the belief that everyone deserves dignity and opportunity, and that its approach has focused on helping communities address the conditions that allow poverty to continue across generations.
The Foundation said its work continues to rely on local partners and community structures. One partner, TPO Uganda, highlighted the Stromme-supported BELIEF programme, which began in 2024 and has reportedly reached more than 15,000 people. The report said the programme is aimed at vulnerable communities and young people, with an emphasis on helping them regain confidence, return to school and take on leadership roles.
Stromme Secretary General Erik Lunde said the rebrand is meant to strengthen the organisation’s public voice while keeping its core mission unchanged. The Foundation said it is responding to wider pressures such as unemployment, inequality, climate-related shocks and changes in development financing, while continuing to focus on education, income opportunities and partnerships. In general, the anniversary reflects the role that long-term development organisations can play in community-based poverty reduction, especially when working through local institutions rather than from the top down.
