Ssuna Ben, Spice Diana to headline World Tourism Day celebrations in Mbale

What the report says
Ugandan performers Ssuna Ben, Spice Diana, Fik Fameica and Ykee Benda have been announced as the main entertainers for Uganda’s national World Tourism Day 2026 celebrations, which are scheduled for Mbale City on September 27. According to the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, the event is being organized as part of broader preparations that will blend tourism promotion with music, culture and heritage.
Sqoop Uganda reported that the celebrations will begin with a tour of the Mount Elgon region before concluding with a large concert in Mbale. The plan is intended to give visitors a closer look at the area’s natural attractions, cultural traditions and tourism offerings, while also drawing attention to the eastern region more generally. The ministry’s permanent secretary, Doreen Katusiime, said the goal is not only to display destinations but also to encourage visits, support business opportunities and link local communities to the tourism value chain.
Spice Diana said the appearance gives artistes a chance to help promote Uganda beyond entertainment by using their platforms to market the country. Ssuna Ben also said he expected to deliver a strong performance, recalling his appearance at the 2025 Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo. The 2026 celebrations will be held under the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” reflecting the sector’s focus on technology and changing travel trends.
