What the report says

Yahoo Finance reported that SpaceX shares rebounded Tuesday after touching a record low the prior day, even though the company had just completed a notable Starship test flight. The stock, trading under the ticker SPCX, was down 4% early before finishing 2.6% higher. On Monday it had fallen to $109.53 intraday and closed at $113.50, leaving it well below its $150 debut price last month and about half off its reported peak of $225.64.

The report tied the volatility to investor caution before SpaceX’s second-quarter earnings, scheduled for Aug. 4, and a share lockup event on Aug. 6, when up to 20% of shares may become eligible for sale under the company’s plan. Yahoo also cited Alex Morris of F/m Investments, who suggested the stock could fall into double digits while still describing the company’s long-term competitive position as strong, with volatility linked partly to investor expectations around AI-related growth.

The market pressure came after Starship’s 13th test flight from Starbase, Texas, on Friday, its first since SpaceX’s June IPO, according to Yahoo. The vehicle deployed 20 next-generation Starlink V3 satellites, restarted an engine in space and achieved what the company described as its gentlest ocean splashdown so far. The Super Heavy booster completed some key steps but did not ignite all engines for landing and struck the Gulf of Mexico harder than intended.

Yahoo reported that SpaceX is increasingly centering its future plans on Starship, including a possible tower catch attempt for the upper stage on the next flight if data review supports it. That raises the importance of Starship reliability as investors assess whether SpaceX can scale launches enough to replace heavier reliance on Falcon 9.
