South African golfers stage sensational comeback for 13th All Africa title, Uganda 8th

What the report says
South Africa won the 2026 All Africa Team Championship in Hammamet, Tunisia, after a strong final-round surge overturned an eight-shot deficit and lifted the team to its 13th continental title, according to The Independent Uganda. The tournament was played at Citrus Golf Club Les Oliviers, and South Africa finished with a total of 624, four strokes ahead of Morocco on 628. Zambia placed third on 646.
The report said the decisive push came from Protea debutant Jono Wilsenach and Judd Sundelson, who both posted closing 66s, with additional support from CJ van Wyk and Ivan Verster. Morocco had led after the previous round but could not maintain that advantage over the final 18 holes. The event was held over 54 holes, and South Africa’s late charge changed the standings at the end of play.
Uganda finished eighth among the top 10 teams with 671, behind Zimbabwe and ahead of Egypt and Seychelles. The article noted that Uganda’s best individual result came from Antony Otukei, who placed 19th. In related developments at the championship, Uganda’s Johnson Omollo was re-elected president of the Africa Golf Confederation during the general assembly held on the sidelines of the event, with the result endorsed by member nations and The R&A, golf’s world governing body.
