SMACK, Bwerayange in spotlight at Clash of Titans

Saint Mary’s Kisubi (SMACK) and Bwerayange alumni golf teams are expected to draw attention when the first leg of the fifth Hima Cement-sponsored Clash of Titans gets underway on September 12 at Uganda Golf Club in Kampala, according to The Independent Uganda. The competition brings together alumni from traditional schools and is played over two legs, with the second event set for Entebbe Club. This year’s edition has attracted 21 schools.

At the launch, Hima Cement brand and communication manager Leonah Nekusa said the company is pleased to continue backing the tournament, while organiser Henry Nsubuga thanked the sponsors and said 251 players are expected to take part. The event is being staged with support from partners including Uganda Golf Club and Jubilee Insurance, as shown in the launch photo and accompanying report.

The tournament also has a wider purpose beyond competition. The Independent Uganda reported that proceeds will go toward school projects and efforts to help develop golf through the Uganda Golf Union. In recent editions, SMACK and Bwerayange have been among the standout performers, with St Mary’s Kisubi winning the men’s title in 2023 and 2025, and Bwerayange Girls School taking the ladies’ title in 2024 and 2025.
