MacRumors reported that Apple’s proposed $250 million settlement in a U.S. class action over the delayed rollout of upgraded Siri features has received preliminary approval from a judge, citing a July 17 court document. The outlet said the settlement website is not yet available, so eligible customers do not need to take action now and may have to wait months before filing claims.

The case followed Apple’s 2024 promotion of new Siri capabilities tied to Apple Intelligence, including more personalized context, awareness of on-screen information and expanded control inside apps. MacRumors reported that Apple later delayed the personalized Siri launch in March 2025, after which the company faced a lawsuit alleging false advertising. Apple agreed to settle while saying it wanted to remain focused on delivering products and services; the report did not say Apple admitted wrongdoing.

According to MacRumors, U.S. residents may be eligible if they bought an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model, including the iPhone 16e, between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. The settlement terms call for $25 per eligible device, with payments potentially rising to as much as $95 depending on how many valid claims are submitted.

The claims process is expected to open through a future settlement website, and eligible class members are expected to receive email notice within about 45 days of preliminary approval. The development matters because it creates a potential payout path for some U.S. iPhone buyers while Apple continues moving toward broader availability of its revamped Siri AI features.
