Singer Irene Ntale opens up about fibroid surgery

Sqoop Uganda reports that singer Irene Ntale has publicly discussed a recent operation to remove fibroids, saying doctors took out 30 growths. According to the outlet, Ntale shared the health update on social media while responding to an influencer’s post about living with fibroids, and used the moment to encourage other women dealing with the condition.

The singer said she was four weeks and four days into recovery after the procedure, which she described as involving a vertical incision. Sqoop reported that Ntale underwent an open abdominal myomectomy in Uganda in June. The procedure is used to remove uterine fibroids while keeping the uterus intact. She described the first week after surgery as especially painful, including discomfort from post-operative gas, but said her healing had since improved and she was gradually returning to normal.

Fibroids are generally non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus. They may cause heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, frequent urination or fertility-related complications, though some women have no symptoms. The condition is common, but public discussion of it can be limited because it involves reproductive health.

Sqoop said Ntale’s disclosure drew supportive messages from fans and fellow entertainers and prompted wider online conversation about women’s reproductive health. The report frames her decision to speak openly as significant because it brings attention to a medical issue that many women experience but may not discuss publicly.
