SICPA and 40 Days Over 40 Smiles Join Forces to Boost Education and Water Access

What the report says
SICPA Uganda has donated learning and water infrastructure to the Angaza Resource Centre in Kibuli, Makindye Division, in a move presented as part of its 2026 corporate social responsibility work. The handover included a refurbished shipping container for use by the centre’s mobile library and a 5,000-litre rainwater harvesting tank to support water access during municipal shortages. The centre is operated by the 40 Days Over 40 Smiles Foundation, also known as 4040, at Merowa Junior School.
According to Nile Post, the centre offers free reading space, digital literacy classes and learning support to more than 250 children aged four to twenty. The new container is intended to extend books and computer services to schools in Makindye Division that do not have their own library or ICT facilities. School leaders and foundation staff said the support will help meet rising demand for learning materials and improve practical lessons for pupils.
The report said SICPA Uganda framed the donation as part of wider efforts to support education and clean water in Kampala’s informal settlements, where access to both services remains uneven. The company has also previously backed community projects in health, water and education, including support during the COVID-19 response and other initiatives in eastern Uganda. More broadly, the story reflects ongoing private-sector involvement in filling service gaps in underserved urban communities.
