What the report says

Sheffield United have added Jordan Ayew on a contract running until the end of the season, according to BBC Sport. The 34-year-old forward was a free agent after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season, when the Foxes were relegated to League One. Ayew had previously played for Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, and BBC Sport noted that he has spent the past 11 years in the Premier League and Championship.

The move gives Sheffield United an experienced attacker with a long career in English football and international pedigree. Ayew has won 124 caps for Ghana, and manager Chris Wilder said on the club website that the player brings top-level experience and can cover several forward roles. BBC Sport also reported that Ayew captained Ghana at the World Cup only a few months ago, underlining his senior status in the game.

The article also noted a separate squad move involving midfielder Ehije Ukaki, 21, who has returned to Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv on loan for the season. Ukaki had joined Sheffield United from Plovdiv last summer and made only one appearance for the club, in a Carabao Cup defeat to Birmingham City in August 2025. The additions and departures come as clubs continue to manage squads for the new campaign.
