SFC Flags off Teams for Second Inter-Forces CDF Drill Competition

Watchdog Uganda reports that Maj. Gen. David Mugisha, the Commander of Uganda’s Special Forces Command, flagged off the SFC Alpha and Bravo drill teams on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, ahead of the Second Inter-Forces Chief of Defence Forces Drill Competition. The teams are expected to join participants from other services and formations in Bombo for final rehearsals before the competition is held at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

According to the report, Maj. Gen. Mugisha praised the teams for their training progress and urged them to maintain concentration, discipline and determination as they prepare to compete. He also warned against alcoholism and other conduct that could affect mental and physical readiness, emphasizing that success in a team-based military drill event still depends on individual commitment, coordination and self-discipline.

The Inter-Forces CDF Drill Competition was initiated by Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, with the stated aim of strengthening military discipline, fitness and parade-drill excellence among officers and other ranks. Watchdog Uganda says last year’s inaugural event saw the SFC win two trophies and take the award for best mastery presentation, while the Internal Security Organisation emerged overall champion.

This year’s contest is set to include Sword Drill, Cane Stick Drill, Crop Stick Drill, Foot Drill, Pace Stick Drill and Mastery, also described as showmanship drill. The flag-off ceremony was attended by senior SFC officials, including Chief of Staff Brig. Gen. Paul Namawa, Col. Dismas Kamuza of 1 Special Forces Group, brigade commanders, directors, officers and non-commissioned officers.
