SFC Celebrates CDF Inter-Forces Drill Victory, Sets Sights on Combat Excellence

The Special Forces Command (SFC) has marked its win in the second edition of the Chief of Defence Forces Inter-Forces Drill Competition, receiving the championship trophy at its headquarters in Entebbe, Wakiso District. According to Watchdog Uganda, the unit also took home a cash prize of UGX 50 million after emerging overall champions.

SFC Commander Maj. Gen. Asaph Mweteise Nyakikuru congratulated the team and said the result reflected the standards expected of Special Forces personnel. He praised the participants for professionalism, teamwork, dedication and determination, while also urging them to turn the same discipline toward broader military goals such as combat readiness and marksmanship.

Deputy Commander Brig. Gen. JB Asinguza described the victory as part of a wider SFC culture of excellence and said it was built through sacrifice, courage, endurance and preparation. Chief of Staff Brig. Gen. John Mango Baraza likewise cautioned against complacency and called for continued training so the command can defend its standing in future competitions.

Team leader Maj. Stephen Mukiibi said the squad stayed focused despite long hours, pressure and personal difficulties. The report said SFC also won the Officers’ Sword Drill, while Lt. Gordon Akandwanaho was named Best Junior Officer. Beyond the ceremonial aspect, the command framed the result as a reminder that drill performance should support overall military readiness.
