What the report says

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko is expected to be sidelined until at least January because of a shin injury, according to BBC Sport Football. The 23-year-old has not played since United’s Carabao Cup defeat by Brighton on 16 September, when he was taken off in the second half.

BBC Sport reported that Sesko underwent several checks to identify the problem, which sources said is an impact injury rather than shin splints. The issue has also disrupted his fitness for longer periods, as he missed all of pre-season and had a similar problem last season, including a flare-up against Liverpool in May.

Sesko joined United from RB Leipzig in August 2025 in a deal reported to be worth £73.7m. He has scored two goals this season and has made 38 appearances in all competitions for the club. His absence matters because United have lacked a natural centre-forward, leaving manager Michael Carrick with fewer attacking options.

The reported timetable means Sesko will miss several important fixtures, including Premier League matches against Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as at least three Champions League games. The news comes during a difficult spell for United, who are struggling in the league and have gone several matches without a win.
