Seedorf back in football as Corinthians head coach

What the report says
Brazilian club Corinthians have appointed Clarence Seedorf as head coach, giving the former Netherlands midfielder his first coaching job since 2019, BBC Sport Football reported. The move was announced as the club sits 16th in Brazil’s top division, just above the relegation zone, with eight league matches remaining.
Seedorf, 50, has signed through the end of 2027. He replaces Fernando Diniz, who was dismissed last week after Corinthians lost seven straight league matches. According to BBC Sport, Seedorf’s most recent coaching post was with Cameroon more than seven years ago, and earlier spells at AC Milan, Shenzhen FC and Deportivo La Coruna were described as disappointing.
In a statement quoted by BBC Sport, Seedorf said the role was an honour and a major responsibility, adding that he wants to help build a side that competes strongly in every moment of every match. His new squad includes former Manchester United players Memphis Depay and Jesse Lingard.
Seedorf is widely remembered as a highly decorated former player. He retired in 2014 after winning four Champions League titles with three different clubs: Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan. That record still makes him the only player to have won Europe’s top club competition with three teams.
