What the report says

Field Gulls reported that Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tory Horton opened training camp without being placed on the physically unable to perform list, a positive sign after a shin injury ended his rookie season early. The report was published July 25, 2026, as Seattle began its first training camp practice with fans and HBO’s “Hard Knocks” crew in attendance.

According to Field Gulls, head coach Mike Macdonald had expressed optimism that Horton would be ready for camp, though he had not guaranteed the receiver would participate from the first day. Horton’s availability means Seattle’s leading wide receiver group is intact at the start of camp, including Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp and Rashid Shaheed.

The report noted that Horton’s last game of the previous season included two touchdown catches against the Washington Commanders. He finished the year with five touchdown receptions on 13 catches and also contributed on special teams, including a 95-yard punt return for a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints.

Field Gulls framed Horton’s return as important because Seattle did not get a chance last season to see Horton, Shaheed, Smith-Njigba and Kupp healthy at the same time. His absence from the PUP list does not guarantee full health through camp or the preseason, but it removes an immediate concern about a setback as the Super Bowl champion Seahawks begin preparations for the new season.
