NBC Sports’ ProFootballTalk reported that Seattle Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori is on the active/physically unable to perform list after a right ankle procedure, but the team expects him to be available for the start of the regular season. The Seahawks had announced Monday that Emmanwori was placed on active/PUP; according to PFT, citing ESPN’s Brady Henderson, the reason became clear Wednesday when it was reported that he had arthroscopic surgery earlier in July.

The report said Emmanwori took part in offseason activities with teammates but continued to deal with soreness, prompting the procedure. He may miss part of training camp while recovering, though he can be moved back to Seattle’s 90-player roster once he passes a physical. Active/PUP designations are commonly used at the start of camp for players who are not yet cleared to practice and do not necessarily mean a long-term absence.

Emmanwori, a 2025 second-round pick, had already dealt with right ankle problems during his rookie season. NBC Sports noted he missed three games after a high-ankle sprain in the opener, then played through a low-ankle sprain before Super Bowl LX.

His availability matters for a Seattle defense that received immediate production from him last season. In 14 regular-season games in 2025, Emmanwori recorded 81 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, 11 passes defended and one interception. He also contributed 13 tackles, four passes defended and a fumble recovery during three postseason games.
