Samsung Smart Glasses 2026 Take Aim at Meta Ray-Ban - Memeburn

Memeburn reported that Samsung has shown two display-free smart glasses designs, positioning them as a new Android XR challenge to Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses. The devices were presented at Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, with a planned fall 2026 launch, though Samsung has not announced an exact release date, final product name, camera resolution, weight or retail price.

According to the report, the glasses will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform and include Gemini, a built-in camera, open-ear audio, touch and voice controls, iPhone support, and some Galaxy-specific features. Samsung is claiming up to nine hours of battery life, plus as many as seven full recharges from the case. Memeburn notes that this is not directly comparable with Meta’s battery figures because the companies describe usage and charging case capacity differently.

The main strategic difference highlighted is software. Samsung and Google are promoting Gemini-assisted tasks such as identifying objects, translation, navigation, summarizing messages, capturing photos and connecting with phone apps. Samsung also showed workflows involving Samsung Notes and gestures from a connected Galaxy Watch9. Memeburn cautions that there is not yet public comparative evidence on reliability, speed, task completion or how much phone confirmation will be needed.

The report says Samsung’s partnerships with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker are aimed at making the product feel like acceptable eyewear, not just electronics. Meta still has a major lead through Ray-Ban and EssilorLuxottica’s retail and prescription networks, with market trackers cited by Memeburn placing Meta far ahead in early 2026. Price, comfort and final build quality remain key unknowns before launch.
