MacRumors reports that Samsung has introduced the Samsung Galaxy Card, its first U.S. credit card, in partnership with Barclays. The card is a Visa product tied closely to Samsung Wallet and is positioned as a rival to Apple Card, with financing options for Galaxy device purchases made through Samsung.

According to the report, the Galaxy Card has no annual fee and offers 5% cash rewards on eligible online and in-store purchases made directly from Samsung in the United States. Other rewards include 3% back on purchases through Samsung Wallet, 2% back on streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+ and Spotify, and 1% back on other spending. New cardholders can receive $200 in cash rewards after spending $2,000 within the first 90 days, and Samsung is also offering a 20% discount on its VIP Advantage membership when paid for with the card.

MacRumors notes that the product mirrors parts of Apple’s approach: Apple Card is centered on Apple Wallet and includes special financing for Apple hardware. By comparison, Apple Card offers 3% back on Apple and selected merchant purchases, 2% on Apple Pay transactions and 1% elsewhere. Barclays described the Samsung card as its first credit card built natively around a digital wallet, without requiring a separate banking app.

Approved applicants can use the Galaxy Card immediately through Samsung Wallet, while a black metal physical card will also be shipped. Applications are set to open online and in Samsung retail stores on July 22, the same day as Samsung’s Unpacked event, where new Galaxy foldable devices are expected.
