Salam TV Opens Registration for 7th Omumanyi Competition in Iganga

Salam TV has opened registration for the seventh edition of its Omumanyi wa Salam TV competition, starting in Iganga, according to Nile Post. The launch was tied to Salam Jumah prayers at Masjid Madinah and Masjid Makkah, where organizers also unveiled a new guidebook for contestants.

The publication reported that the guidebook is intended to simplify preparation for the contest and covers current affairs, East African history and Islamic theology. Registration in Iganga costs Shs20,000, while the guidebook is priced at Shs40,000. Organizers said the competition remains open to participants, with opportunities still available for sponsorship and partnerships.

Nile Post said Salam TV management is keeping a broad prize package for this year’s edition, including cars, Hajj and Umra pilgrimages, land titles, motorcycles, mattresses, television sets, gift hampers and cash. The campaign coordinator, Abdussalaam Ali Kinobe, said the guidebook is useful beyond the contest itself, while local leaders in Iganga urged residents to support the team as it aims to retain the title won in the previous edition.

Sheikh Hassan Sibu Ssebuliba said the competition has run for six years and will now be staged nationwide, beginning in Iganga. The contest is part of Salam TV’s broader Islamic knowledge outreach, combining religious learning with public-interest subjects.
