What the report says

Salam TV has launched the seventh edition of its Omumanyi wa Salam TV guidebook and opened registration for the 2026 competition, according to Nile Post. The launch took place on Friday during a special Salam Jumah at Masjid Mbogo in Kawempe, where Sheikh Najib Kasozi led prayers and delivered a sermon urging Muslims to live upright lives and leave behind lasting good deeds through charity.

After the prayers, Salam TV and Salam Charity Managing Director Hajji Karim Kaliisa formally unveiled the guidebook. He said it contains knowledge useful not only for contestants but also for the wider public, and said registration is open at Shs20,000. Kaliisa also appealed for support toward completing Masjid Mbogo Kawempe and described contributions to the mosque as a form of ongoing charity in memory of loved ones. During the event, he handed over Shs4.5 million toward the mosque’s construction on behalf of supporters including Hajji Muhammad Kaliisa and former MP Mathias Mpuuga.

The Imam of Masjid Mbogo Kawempe, Sheikh Kulumba, thanked Salam TV and Salam Charity for their community work and urged residents to keep supporting such efforts. The competition’s regional rounds are set to start in Busoga before moving through other parts of the country, including Eastern, Western, Northern, Greater Masaka, Bunyoro-Toro and Central. The national final will bring together regional winners for prizes that include cars, land titles, and pilgrimage packages such as Hijja and Umrah, underscoring the contest’s blend of religious learning and community engagement.
