Salam TV Engages Hoima Leaders Ahead of Omumanyi Regional Finals

What the report says
Salam TV has stepped up outreach in Hoima City ahead of the Bunyoro-Tooro regional finals of its Omumanyi wa Salam TV competition. According to Nile Post, the broadcaster’s Managing Director, Hajji Karim Kaliisa, met city officials and visited the office of the Resident City Commissioner to invite them to the event and promote the programme.
The regional finals are set for Bwikya Hill in Hoima City, with the article saying the event is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026, and will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The competition is in its seventh edition and is expected to bring together participants and members of the wider Bunyoro-Tooro community.
Hoima City Deputy RCC Amuli Kintu Kasugga welcomed the Salam TV team and praised the station’s community-based programming, including Omumanyi wa Salam and its Smart Community Programme. Kaliisa said Salam TV, under Next Media, focuses on mobilisation, public awareness and community support. The article also notes that the competition offers prizes such as Umrah and Hajj trips, land titles, motorcycles and cars, although Salam TV says its wider aim is community sensitisation and empowerment.
The visit included the handover of an official guidebook for the competition’s seventh edition, which contains information for participants and sample questions. The engagement reflects how media-led community events in Uganda often combine entertainment, outreach and civic messaging ahead of regional finals.
