Rwashande Pledges to Unite Lwemiyaga Residents

What the report says
Lwemiyaga County MP Emmanuel Rwashande has said he will focus on reconciliation and development in the Sembabule District constituency as he begins his first 100 days in office. Speaking at a press conference in Kampala, the retired brigadier general said he wants to bridge political divides that have persisted in the area for years and ensure that public programmes benefit residents regardless of their affiliations.
According to Nile Post, Rwashande highlighted land disputes as a major concern, including cases where borrowers reportedly lose land to money lenders after defaulting on small loans. He said he is treating the issue as a priority and wants to prevent unfair land dispossession. He also pointed to the need for better roads, saying improved transport links would help farmers move produce and could support tourism and investment in the constituency.
Rwashande said health services also need attention, especially at some Health Centre IVs that require more equipment. He added that he is working with local leaders to improve access to safe water in communities facing shortages. In education, he said he is engaging the Ministry of Education and Sports over plans for seed schools and other government schools so children can study closer to home.
The MP acknowledged that some voters did not support him in the election, but urged them to put aside political differences and cooperate on constituency development. He said he plans to create committees that bring different groups together. Nile Post noted that some residents have welcomed his focus on these long-standing local challenges.
