Russian attack on Ukraine’s Kramatorsk kills at least 12 people

What the report says
A Russian strike on a bus in Kramatorsk, a city in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region near the front line, killed at least 12 people and wounded 14 others, according to local authorities cited by Al Jazeera. The local prosecutor’s office said the toll was preliminary and that the final number of casualties was still being determined. Regional governor Vadym Filashkin confirmed the attack and shared images of a destroyed bus, while city officials described the strike as an attack on civilians with no military target nearby.
Kramatorsk remains one of the key Ukrainian-held cities in Donetsk, a region that Moscow claims as part of Russia. The city has served as an important logistics and supply hub for Ukrainian forces during the war, and fighting has pushed closer to its eastern edge. That has increased pressure on civilians who remain in the area to relocate to safer parts of Ukraine.
The attack came as Russia and Ukraine continued to exchange long-range strikes. Al Jazeera also reported that the death toll from a separate Russian missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky, in northern Ukraine, rose to 22, including five children. In Russia, a drone fire damaged a Yandex data centre in the central Ryazan region, according to the company.
