What the report says

Russia and Ukraine exchanged drone strikes overnight, with both sides reporting damage to energy and logistics infrastructure and injuries, according to Al Jazeera’s report published on 5 Nov. 2026. Moscow said its forces hit a Nova Poshta postal logistics hub outside Kharkiv, a power substation in Dnipropetrovsk, and a cargo ship in the Black Sea that it said was carrying military equipment. Ukrainian officials did not immediately confirm those strikes.

On the Ukrainian side, regional officials said Russian drone attacks caused fires and destruction in several areas. Kharkiv region’s governor said more than 80 drones hit the city and nearby settlements over the past day, injuring six people, including a child. In Donetsk region, local authorities said four civilians were killed and five injured in Russian attacks on Wednesday. Al Jazeera also reported that Russian drones sparked large fires in the Bucha district near Kyiv, damaging a logistics centre and injuring one person.

In Russia, Ryazan governor Pavel Malkov said more than 200 Ukrainian drones targeted the region, causing fires at industrial sites, damage to power lines, and one injury. He later said electricity was restored and the fires were under control. Video verified by the outlet Astra showed a fire at the Ryazan oil refinery, one of Russia’s largest. The report places the exchanges in the broader pattern of intensified strikes on refineries and power infrastructure, as both countries continue to target facilities linked to military supply and energy systems.
