Rubis expands Uganda network with 10 new fuel stations

RUBiS Uganda has added 10 new fuel stations to its network as part of a wider effort to expand its retail footprint across the country, according to The Independent Uganda. The new outlets are in Nabbingo, Naluvule, Nakirebe, Lyantonde, Busabala, Kulambiro, Kasangati, Kisoga, Namusera and along the Masaka Bypass. The company’s managing director, William Fillet, said the expansion is aimed at making RUBiS products and services more accessible to motorists and local communities.

The company said the latest openings fit into a broader brand-building strategy in Uganda. Fillet said 67 stations have already been rebranded under the RUBiS identity, with eight more scheduled for rebranding. He also framed the move around the needs of different road users, including taxi drivers, boda boda riders, families and fleet operators, who all depend on reliable fuel and related services.

Beyond fuel sales, RUBiS is positioning its stations as convenience and service hubs. The company currently operates 29 RUBiS Enjoy shops and 18 Castrol bays, while also developing dedicated service points for boda boda riders. It is also working on toilet upgrades at some stations to improve customer experience, especially for long-distance travelers.

French Ambassador to Uganda Virginie Leroy welcomed the investment and said it showed confidence in Uganda’s economy. She also emphasized that expansion should be matched by quality and safety standards. More broadly, the development reflects growing competition in Uganda’s downstream fuel market, where retailers are increasingly adding convenience and automotive services to attract customers.
