Ronaldo’s among three Saudi Arabia games postponed due to Houthi attacks

What the report says
Saudi Arabia’s top football league has postponed three Pro League fixtures after a recent escalation in Houthi attacks from Yemen raised security concerns, according to Al Jazeera’s report based on a Saudi Pro League statement. One of the affected games involves Al Nassr, the club captained by Cristiano Ronaldo, while the other delayed matches include Al Hilal against Al Riyadh and Al Ittihad against Al Shabab.
The league said the changes were made for logistical reasons and to account for the required rest period between matches. Al Jazeera reported that the Al Hilal-Al Riyadh and Al Ittihad-Al Shabab fixtures were moved to December 19, while Al Ahli’s match against Al Nassr was rescheduled for March 6, 2027. The rest of matchweek nine, the league said, would go ahead as planned.
The postponements came after a missile intercepted over Riyadh forced a delay to Al Nassr’s AFC Champions League match against Uzbekistan’s Neftchi Fergana earlier in the week. Al Jazeera also reported that Saudi Arabia has faced a series of missile and drone threats targeting airports and energy sites, with the latest tensions linked to the conflict in Yemen.
The development matters because it shows how the regional conflict is affecting major sporting events inside Saudi Arabia. As reported by Al Jazeera, the situation has prompted both immediate schedule changes and broader concern about the safety of travel and public gatherings in the kingdom.
