Rev. Otuke Hailed for Transformative Leadership as He Bids Farewell to Dokolo

Christians in Dokolo Parish under Dokolo Urban Archdeaconery have praised outgoing Archdeacon Rev. Ven. Capt. Julius Otuke for what they described as transformative leadership and service to both the church and the wider community. According to Dokolo Post, Otuke formally handed over to his successor, Rev. Shadrach Ogwal, at a farewell ceremony attended by church leaders, Christians, political leaders, security officials and other community members in Dokolo.

The report says Otuke was posted to St. Andrew’s Church of Uganda headquarters in the archdeaconery on February 8, 2025. In his remarks, he thanked congregants for their support and pointed to initiatives introduced during his tenure, including a borehole at the church compound, monthly overnight prayers, crossover crusades and midweek services. He also urged continued support for unfinished projects such as the church construction fundraiser and roofing of the mothers’ building.

Ogwal, who previously served at Alebtong Vicarage, called for unity and asked Christians to preserve and extend Otuke’s work. Church members and local leaders also used the event to commend Otuke’s contribution and to appeal for support for the new archdeacon. The ceremony highlighted both the leadership transition and ongoing development needs in the archdeaconery, which Dokolo Post says includes three parishes and 30 churches.
