Redsan considers Kampala concert as he marks 30 years in music

Kenyan dancehall artiste Redsan is weighing a Kampala edition of his REDSAN@30 celebration after marking 30 years in music with a concert in Nairobi. In remarks cited by Sqoop Uganda, he said Ugandan fans supported him during the difficult early stages of his career and still show him strong affection today.

The Nairobi concert was held at Carnivore Grounds on August 29, 2026, and featured a range of East African performers, including Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool, A.Y., Jua Cali, Daddy Owen, the Necessary Noize duo Nazizi and Wyre, Nyla of Brick & Lace, and a surprise appearance by Nameless. Redsan said the guest list was intentionally built around artistes he has worked with over the years, reflecting long-standing professional relationships as well as personal ties.

Several performers used the event to highlight Redsan’s role in the region’s music scene. Bebe Cool described the gathering as a reunion of artists whose careers grew alongside the East African industry, while Chameleone credited Redsan as one of the figures who helped shape a distinct regional sound. Jua Cali and Daddy Owen also praised his staying power and influence.

According to the report, Redsan’s career dates back to a 1998 Star Search win in Nairobi and later releases such as Seasons of the San, Red and Pioneer. For now, Sqoop Uganda said no date, venue or promoter has been confirmed for a Kampala concert, but the idea reflects Redsan’s wish to extend the anniversary celebration to a city that played an important part in his rise.
