Recall issued for eggs sold in New Mexico - KOAT

KOAT New Mexico reported that the Food and Drug Administration has announced a voluntary recall of certain eggs sold in New Mexico because of possible Salmonella contamination. The recall involves Midwest Poultry Services white shell eggs and brown cage-free eggs, according to the FDA notice cited by KOAT.

The affected eggs were produced and distributed from farms in Texas during the period from June 6, 2026, through July 3, 2026, KOAT reported. They were shipped to grocery stores in New Mexico, and the FDA notice also identified distribution through Kroger stores in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, as well as Brookshire Grocery stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Mississippi.

Consumers are being told to check cartons for the identifying codes printed on the side. KOAT reported that only cartons marked with P-1950 or 0840962 are included in the recall. The outlet said a full list of recalled egg products was provided with the FDA information, and people who bought the affected eggs are advised not to eat them and to return them to the original place of purchase for a refund.

Salmonella can cause foodborne illness, and recalls of eggs are intended to prevent potentially contaminated products from being consumed. People who believe they may have eaten recalled eggs and are feeling ill should consider seeking medical guidance, especially if symptoms are severe or involve higher-risk individuals such as young children, older adults, pregnant people or those with weakened immune systems.
