Real demand Tebas resign over Goebbels comparison

What the report says
Real Madrid have demanded the immediate resignation of La Liga president Javier Tebas after he compared the club’s communication strategy to propaganda associated with Nazi Germany. The BBC Sport report says Tebas made the remarks in a post on X, where he argued that Real Madrid and its television channel repeatedly frame events in a way that shapes a grievance-based narrative. He later said he was referring to propaganda techniques, not to an ideology, but Real Madrid rejected that clarification.
In response, the club described Tebas’s comments as deeply offensive and morally repugnant. It also said it was unacceptable for someone holding senior posts in Spanish football to use a comparison linked to the Nazi regime to criticise the club, its management and its media arm. Real Madrid further called for Tebas to step down as both La Liga president and vice-president of the Spanish Football Association.
The dispute adds to a long-running and often public tension between Tebas and Real Madrid. BBC Sport notes that he has previously clashed with the club over refereeing complaints and over Real’s opposition to the proposed European Super League. The latest row matters because it highlights how relations between one of Europe’s biggest clubs and Spanish football’s leadership remain strained, with the fallout now involving both institutional politics and accusations of inflammatory language.
