Ravens DT Nnamdi Madubuike lands on PUP but cleared to return - NBC Sports

NBCSports.com’s Pro Football Talk reports that Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike will open training camp on the active/physically unable to perform list, but he has been medically cleared for a possible return. Madubuike has been out since suffering a neck injury in Week 2 of last season, a setback that left his playing future uncertain for much of the past 10 months.

Citing Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, NBC Sports reported that independent doctors have cleared Madubuike and that the two-time Pro Bowler could be back at practice as early as next week. The update follows comments earlier this month from Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta, who said the situation appeared to be moving in a positive direction.

Madubuike’s status is significant for Baltimore because he is one of the team’s key interior defensive linemen. Placement on the active/PUP list means he is not beginning camp as a full participant, but the “active” designation also allows a player to return during camp once cleared by the club.

NBC Sports also reported that several other Ravens will start camp on the active/PUP list: nose tackles Travis Jones and John Jenkins, linebacker Teddye Buchanan, outside linebacker Adisa Isaac and cornerback Bilhal Kone. Jones, who NBC said led Baltimore with five sacks last season, is recovering from pectoral surgery, according to Zrebiec. Center Corey Bullock was placed on the non-football illness list.
