Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin remains at the centre of late-window speculation, but manager Derek McInnes says the Belgium international has continued to train well despite being left out of the club’s last two match-day squads. BBC Sport reported that Raskin, 25, had been expected by some to move on after attracting attention following his World Cup form, but no offer has yet arrived that would prompt Rangers to consider a sale.

McInnes praised Raskin’s attitude and said any decision on his future would depend on whether a suitable bid comes in before the Scottish transfer deadline on Thursday. He added that, if Raskin stays, he would still expect the midfielder to contribute strongly for Rangers. Raskin joined the club from Standard Liege in January 2023 on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

The BBC also reported that Rangers are likely to add only one more player before the window closes, with a striker thought to be the priority after Youssef Chermiti suffered a long-term injury last month. Kevin Kelsy of Portland Timbers has been linked with that role. McInnes said there had also been conversations over possible outgoing moves, with several players, including Raskin, mentioned as potential departure candidates as the club continues to reshape its squad under a busy summer of recruitment.
