Rapper Yung Filly tells trial 'vibes were good' with woman who accuses him of rape

BBC World News reported that UK rapper and online personality Yung Filly gave evidence on Monday at his trial in the District Court of Western Australia, where he is accused of raping a fan in a Perth hotel room. The artist, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, denies the allegations and has pleaded not guilty.

The case relates to an alleged incident in September 2024, when Barrientos was touring Australia and had performed at a nightclub in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth. Prosecutors allege the woman, who was 20 at the time, was sexually assaulted after going to his hotel room. Barrientos, 30, faces six counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of strangulation.

According to the BBC, Barrientos told the court he was attracted to the woman when they met at the venue and said the atmosphere between them remained positive when they later reached the hotel. He denied inappropriate touching at the nightclub, saying he remembered placing a hand on her waist but rejected claims that he touched her breast or put his hands down her pants. He also said a security guard took the woman’s phone as a privacy measure.

The BBC said the court had earlier heard that the pair initially had consensual sex before the woman alleges Barrientos became violent and she told him to stop. Barrientos is known for music, YouTube group Beta Squad, BBC Three presenting work and appearances on UK entertainment programmes. He has been on bail since being charged.
