Rangers buy Serbia's Dragojevic from Partizan

BBC Sport Football reports that Rangers have completed the signing of 20-year-old Serbia midfielder Vanja Dragojevic from Partizan Belgrade. The transfer fee was not disclosed. Dragojevic has agreed a four-year deal with the Scottish Premiership club, which also includes an option for an additional season.

According to the BBC, Dragojevic came through Partizan’s youth ranks after joining the club’s academy in 2021. He signed professional terms two years later, had a loan spell with Teleoptik, and made his Partizan first-team debut in March last year. He went on to become a regular starter and captain, with the BBC reporting that he scored four goals and supplied four assists in 41 appearances last season as Partizan finished third in Serbia’s SuperLiga.

Rangers manager Derek McInnes said the club were pleased to add Dragojevic, highlighting his potential, personal qualities and leadership experience at a young age. The BBC notes that he has two senior international caps for Serbia and has mainly played as a defensive midfielder.

The move adds another young option to Rangers’ midfield as the club prepares for the new campaign. Dragojevic may also be familiar to Scottish football followers after featuring for Partizan against Hibernian in last summer’s Conference League qualifying tie, which Hibs won 4-3 on aggregate after extra time.
