Rallying: Haruna Katazza steals the show as Mubiru conquers Gulu again

What the report says
Haruna Katazza and co-driver David Mwesigwa produced one of the most eye-catching drives at the Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally in Gulu, Uganda, combining big jumps with a stage win to finish third overall. The Observer reported that the pair competed in a locally built Subaru Impreza N8, known as Magege, and stayed near the front throughout Round Six of the KCB National Rally Championship. Their strongest moment came on the Power Stage, where Katazza set the fastest time and capped an impressive rally with a podium place.
The article said Katazza also drew attention on the demanding Wobbly Stage, where he made a notable jump at the Ssegamu 14 section. His late pace helped him remain among the leading crews even after trailing early in the event. While his performance brought the biggest spectacle, it also underlined the competitiveness of locally prepared machinery against more established rivals.
Duncan Mubiru, paired with Hamza Lwanga in a Ford Fiesta Proto, won the rally for a second straight year after returning from a brief break from competition. The Observer said Mubiru recovered from an early deficit and battled closely with Moses Lumala before sealing victory. The result added to Mubiru’s reputation in Ugandan rallying, while the event also highlighted the depth of competition in the national championship and the continued appeal of rallying in Gulu.
