What the report says

Raith Rovers head into Friday’s Fife derby against Dunfermline Athletic in strong early form, but manager Dougie Imrie says the club is not treating the fast start as a reason to raise expectations too quickly. BBC Sport reports that Raith are unbeaten in the Scottish Championship after three matches, with two wins and a draw, and sit second in the table. The match will be shown live on BBC Scotland.

Imrie said the team had come through a difficult pre-season period, with injuries forcing him to work with a depleted group before the squad was strengthened in the summer. He highlighted the arrival of winger Scott Tiffoney as an important signing and said the group has been built around a competitive environment in which players must keep earning selection. BBC Sport also noted that Raith have brought in 11 players and allowed 13 to leave this summer.

Dunfermline arrive with a more uneven start to the league campaign, having taken two draws and then lost at Livingston last weekend. Neil Lennon’s side did reach the Scottish Cup final last season and went through their League Cup group with a win over St Mirren, but they were then eliminated by Ross County. Lennon said he still expects Dunfermline to be in the title picture, but acknowledged the squad overhaul has taken time to settle.

The derby offers an early test for both clubs in a competitive Championship season, with Raith aiming to maintain momentum and Dunfermline looking for a first league win.
