What the report says

The Uganda Quran Schools Association has announced the start of the 2026 Islamic Primary Leaving Examination (IPLE), a two-day national assessment for learners in Islamic primary schools. According to Nile Post, the exam is set to begin on Wednesday, August 19, and will be administered at centres across Uganda under the supervision of 390 officials deployed nationwide.

The first day will open with Arabic Language in the morning, followed by Tarbiya, or Islamic Tradition, in the afternoon. The examination will end on Thursday, August 20, with Islamic Jurisprudence. The association said the papers will test candidates in Arabic, Islamic Tradition and Islamic Jurisprudence, alongside the broader Islamic learning expected in such schools.

At a press conference in Kampala, Secretary General Dr. Jemba Haruna Abdulhamid called on candidates, parents, school administrators, invigilators and other officials to uphold integrity during the exercise. He warned that any form of malpractice would lead to disqualification. The association said the supervisors’ deployment is meant to improve monitoring and ensure the exams meet set standards.

The IPLE is an annual examination for pupils in Islamic schools, and the association serves as the umbrella body for Quranic and theological schools in Uganda. In practical terms, the announcement signals the final administrative preparations before testing begins, and highlights the group’s effort to protect the credibility of the national Islamic assessment system.
