Buganda Kingdom leaders have called on residents to move past political disputes and focus instead on local development, sanitation and support for kingdom institutions. The message was delivered by Noah Kiyimba, Minister in the Office of the Katikkiro, Cabinet and Special Duties, as he received contributions from subjects in Mawokota, Bugerere, Kyaggwe and Buddu counties.

According to the Nile Post report, the counties handed over funds for kingdom activities, with the article citing a total of Shs39.31 million at the ceremony. Kiyimba said the political tensions that affected the start of the year should be treated as temporary and should not prevent people from working together on community priorities.

Joseph Kawuki, the Minister for Local Government, Kabaka’s Tours and Buganda Affairs Abroad, encouraged participation in the government’s monthly community cleaning exercise, saying it could help improve sanitation in the Kabaka’s villages. He also urged residents to prepare for the forthcoming County Day and related cleaning activities by taking part in constructive work.

Hajji Hassan Kasujja Kagga, the Kabaka’s County Chief of Mawokota, asked sub-county chiefs to strengthen the Luwalo lwaffe contribution system, saying it supports county development and Buganda institutions. The broader significance of the appeal is that it links political calm with practical community efforts, including sanitation and cultural institution-building.
