PSG v Lyon moved as Paris prepares for more protests

What the report says
Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 meeting with Lyon has been moved from Sunday to Monday at the Parc des Princes, according to BBC Sport, after French police blocked the original date because of expected protest-related security concerns in the capital. The match will now kick off on Monday evening in Paris, with the Ligue de Football Professionnel confirming the change on Friday.
BBC Sport reported that French authorities are preparing for another large weekend of demonstrations linked to anger over fuel costs, education standards and the cost of living. The protests are expected to begin near Place de la Bastille, and officials are also dealing with the added policing demands of an NFL game at the Stade de France on Sunday. The report said last weekend’s marches drew very large crowds and included some incidents of disorder.
The scheduling change follows other disruptions to French football, including Toulouse’s home match against Troyes being shifted at the request of the authorities. It also creates an unusual calendar clash for PSG, with the game now landing on the same day as the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London. PSG are second in the league after seven matches, while Lyon sit top on goal difference, underlining the importance of the fixture in the early title race.
