What the report says

Paris St-Germain have agreed a deal in principle to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, according to BBC Sport Football. The reported transfer fee is around 50 million euros, or about £42.7 million. Torres, 26, has been allowed to miss training while the move is completed, suggesting the clubs and the player are working through the final steps of the transfer.

BBC Sport says the Spain international’s profile has risen after a strong campaign for Barcelona and his role in Spain’s recent World Cup success. The article notes that Torres scored 21 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions last season, adding three assists, as Barcelona won the La Liga title. It also says he scored Spain’s winning goal in extra time against Argentina in the World Cup final this summer.

If completed, the move would add another major attacking signing for PSG, who are coached by former Barcelona player and manager Luis Enrique. The Paris club have won the Champions League in each of the past two seasons, and the report says they may also face a possible departure of forward Bradley Barcola, who has been linked with Liverpool.

Torres joined Barcelona in 2022 after two years at Manchester City. BBC Sport notes that he has 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain.
