Prophet Elvis Mbonye Highlights Importance of Prophetic Foresight

Prophet Elvis Mbonye used the ninth annual Honour Day celebration to stress what he called the importance of prophetic foresight for both believers and nations. According to Nile Post, he said prophetic guidance helps people recognize and respond to “times and seasons” in line with God’s purpose, and that it keeps them relevant in a spiritual sense. The event was held on Tuesday at Zoe Grounds in Kigo, Lweza, and drew local and international guests.

The gathering included Minister of Local Government Balaam Barugahara, who represented President Museveni, and Ethiopia’s ambassador to Uganda, Etsegenet Bezabih Yimenu. Mbonye told attendees that churches need prophets as well as apostles, evangelists, pastors and teachers, and he warned religious leaders not to depend only on doctrine without prophetic insight. His remarks framed prophecy as a way of understanding current events and spiritual timing.

Barugahara praised Mbonye for his prayers and spiritual leadership, and delivered condolences to the Tooro royal family and kingdom following the death of the king, asking for prayers for comfort. In remarks read on Museveni’s behalf, the president linked faith, unity and cooperation to Uganda’s broader integration goals in East Africa and across Africa.

The ambassador also spoke about Ethiopia’s Christian heritage and invited Mbonye to take his ministry to Ethiopia. The celebration featured praise, worship and performances by groups from several African countries, underscoring the event’s regional and interfaith-style public profile.
