What the report says

Watchdog Uganda reported that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has granted an official burial to Gen. (Rtd) Hon. Moses Ali, the late Member of Parliament for Adjumani West County. The announcement was made in Kampala by the Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, according to the outlet.

In the statement cited by Watchdog Uganda, Babalanda identified Moses Ali as a former 2nd Deputy Prime Minister and described him as a long-serving national figure. She said the National Organising Committee had begun consultations with the family to plan what she called a befitting send-off. The minister also conveyed condolences to the President, Ali’s family, the people of Adjumani, colleagues in government and Ugandans mourning him.

The report said burial programme details had not yet been released and would be communicated by the National Organising Committee after discussions with the family. It did not provide the date, venue or full protocol arrangements for the burial.

Moses Ali was a prominent Ugandan political and military figure who served in government over several decades, including as a legislator, minister and 2nd Deputy Prime Minister. An official burial is significant because it indicates state recognition of his public service and places the government, through the organising committee, at the centre of coordinating funeral arrangements alongside the bereaved family.
