President Museveni Commends SDA Church’s Development Role as Bishop Kajura is Installed to Lead Busoga Field

Watchdog Uganda reported that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni praised the Seventh-day Adventist Church for its role in Uganda’s social and economic development during the installation of Pastor Jimmy Kajura as the new Bishop of the SDA Church’s Busoga Field. The President’s message was delivered in Busoga by Minister for the Presidency Babirye Milly Babalanda, who represented him at the ceremony.

According to the report, Museveni congratulated Kajura and framed the leadership change as an important moment for the Busoga Adventist Field’s spiritual and administrative direction. He urged the new bishop to lead with humility, integrity, compassion and guidance from scripture, while mobilising partnerships and support to strengthen the church’s work.

The President also credited SDA institutions with contributing to education, healthcare, unity, discipline, patriotism and community transformation. He linked religious unity with efforts to fight poverty and encouraged church members in Busoga to take part in government wealth-creation initiatives, including the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, Operation Wealth Creation and parish-based agricultural programmes.

Watchdog Uganda said the ceremony drew senior SDA leaders, government officials, local leaders, Archbishop Samuel Kajoba and hundreds of believers from across Busoga. The event matters because it highlighted the government’s continued emphasis on cooperation with faith-based institutions in service delivery, moral leadership and local economic mobilisation.
