Premier League trophy tour in Uganda cancelled

What the report says
Uganda Breweries Limited has cancelled a planned Premier League trophy tour in Uganda that was due to run from October 11 to 13, 2026, according to a statement reported by Sqoop Uganda. The company said the decision was caused by unforeseen circumstances and that, despite preparations, the trophy would not arrive as intended.
The cancellation is likely to disappoint football fans who had been expecting a chance to see the Premier League trophy during its visit. UBL and Guinness Uganda apologised to fans, partners and other stakeholders for the change, saying the disruption was beyond their control. The report did not give further details on what prevented the tour.
Even with the trophy tour called off, organisers said other fan activations would continue. Matchday watch parties are still planned at designated venues, including UICT Grounds opposite Aga Khan University Hospital in Nakawa, where supporters can watch live Premier League matches on big screens. The promotion also remains in place for 10 fans to win all-expenses-paid trips to the United Kingdom to attend a Premier League match, with each winner allowed to bring a companion.
UBL said it remains committed to Ugandan football fans and will communicate directly with key stakeholders about the remaining activities. More broadly, trophy tours and watch-party campaigns are common fan engagement tools used by sponsors and sports organisers to build excitement around major leagues.
