What the report says

The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) will stage a four-day Golden Jubilee Summit in Jinja City from October 20 to 23, 2026, at the Source of the Nile Hotel. According to Nile Post, the event will mark 50 years since PRAU was founded in 1976 and will bring together public relations practitioners, communication specialists, industry leaders, partners and other stakeholders to examine the profession’s growth and future in a more digital information landscape.

PRAU said the summit will run under the theme, “Celebrating 50 Years of Professional Excellence; Shaping the Future of Public Relations.” The association described its five-decade record as one shaped by efforts to strengthen professionalism, build capacity, promote ethics and advocate for recognition of public relations as a profession in Uganda. PRAU president Irene Nakasiita said the milestone reflects the growing role of strategic communication in institutional credibility, public trust and national development.

The programme is expected to include professional development sessions, knowledge-sharing, networking and recognition of pioneers who helped establish the field in Uganda. The celebrations will also honour former leaders and contributors to the association’s history. PRAU immediate past president and organising committee chair Tina Wamala said the occasion should also focus on mentoring younger practitioners and preparing the industry for future challenges.

The summit will conclude with the 10th PRAU Excellence Awards on October 23, which will recognise individuals, campaigns and organisations that have contributed to public relations and strategic communication in the country. PRAU also listed a range of institutional partners and sponsors supporting the event.
