The New York Post reported that jury selection in Lindsay Clancy’s Massachusetts triple-murder trial included detailed personal questioning about mental health, family experiences and potential ties to witnesses. More than 300 prospective jurors were questioned and excused before an 18-person jury pool was seated Thursday in Plymouth County, according to the report, which cited the Boston Globe and WCVB. The final pool was described as 12 women and six men, though only 12 jurors will deliberate after evidence is presented.

The questionnaire asked potential jurors whether they or relatives had been diagnosed with conditions such as postpartum depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder, and whether experiences with the mental health system could affect their impartiality. Candidates were also asked if they could fairly consider graphic evidence, including autopsy photographs, and remain open to the defense’s expected insanity argument. Some prospective jurors reportedly became emotional during the process, and several were excused after saying they could not judge the case fairly.

Clancy, 35, is accused of killing her three children — Cora, Dawson and Callan — at the family home in Duxbury in January 2023. Her defense is expected to argue she was experiencing postpartum psychosis, while prosecutors are expected to contend she was not in a mental break and acted with planning. Opening statements were slated to begin Monday.

The Post also reported that Judge William Sullivan granted a motion by Clancy’s former husband, Patrick Clancy, restricting media from recording or distributing the 911 call and autopsy photos, though those materials may be shown in court. The defense separately sought to limit testimony from first responders; the judge said he would review witness necessity during trial.
