Police Trap Suspected Pension Fraudster Outside Dokolo Bank

Dokolo Post reported that security officers in Dokolo District arrested Kenneth Adilo, a primary school teacher at Atelelo Primary School in Alebtong District, on Tuesday outside DFCU Bank in Dokolo Town. Authorities said the arrest followed surveillance after a retired teacher alerted them that she had been told to withdraw money and hand it over to him.

Resident District Commissioner Barbara Akech said Adilo, of Bar-Lela Village in Bata Sub-county, is suspected of targeting pensioners in the Lango sub-region by claiming he could help speed up pension and gratuity payments through government connections. Dokolo District Police Commander Patience Baganzi said investigators believe he presented himself as being linked to senior Ministry of Education officials and sought cash described as facilitation fees.

The report cited two complainants. Lilly Akullu, a retired teacher from Alebtong now living in Dokolo Town Council, alleged Adilo had contacted her since 2021 and demanded Shs4 million, saying it would go to a woman he identified as Jane Akello. Esther Ameri, from Amolatar District, alleged she lost Shs3.5 million in June 2025 in a similar arrangement. Dokolo Post also said it had obtained an audio recording allegedly involving the suspect persuading a complainant to send money.

Akello, contacted by the outlet, denied the claims linked to her, saying she works with the Ministry of Public Service and is not a commissioner. She advised pensioners to use official channels such as human resource officers and chief administrative officers. Police said inquiries are continuing and asked any other possible victims to report to the nearest police station.
